How can it become that only the middle layer is the compression-resistant layer, and the inner and outer layers are not? The third is whether PP-R can protect against ultraviolet rays. National standards clearly stipulate that PP-R pipes cannot be installed directly outdoors, let alone exposed to the sun, because plastic pipes will age quickly after being exposed to ultraviolet light, and over time, pipes will burst and rupture. To sum up, the three-layer and three-color PP-R tubes appearing on the market are not as magical as they advertise. Their real purpose is to create a gimmick to fool the people and collect IQ taxes. The most important thing is to prevent these manufacturers from using the three-layer and three-color production process to fake and cut corners. The inner and outer layers use PP-R raw materials, and recycled materials or inferior materials in the middle, so as to reduce costs and make greater profits.
PP-R tube is also called random copolymer polypropylene, which is what we often call Type III polypropylene. The national standard GB/T50349-2005 has detailed provisions on this. So in actual construction, how to pay attention to and prevent low-temperature brittleness of PP-R pipes? (1) During the handling process of PP-R pipes, it is strictly prohibited to throw, drop, roll, or drag;(2) The pipes are required to be stored in warehouses and simple sheds, and the stacking height must not exceed 1.5 meters;(3) During the construction process, it must be protected to avoid mechanical damage to the pipes caused by inappropriate external forces such as vehicle pressure and foot pressure. The location of the pipeline should be marked after the pipeline is secretly laid to avoid secondary decoration damaging the pipeline. (4) PP-R pipes have a certain low-temperature brittleness at low temperatures. Be careful in winter construction, and use a sharp knife to cut slowly when cutting pipes. The installed pipes shall not be heavily pressed or knocked, and if necessary, the parts that are susceptible to external forces shall be covered with protective objects;(5) Before pipe cutting, if pipes that have caused stress whitening due to external forces are found, the pipes shall not be used. (6) Before hot melt connection of pipes, carefully check whether the pipes have been damaged, especially the inner wall, because when the pipes are subjected to external force, the inner wall breaks first and then goes outside. Avoid using pipes whose inner wall has been broken but the outer tube has not been broken;(7) After installation of the pipes, the pressure must be tested before direct burial and non-direct burial. The next step can be carried out only after the pressure test is passed.

The welding temperature of PP-R pipes is generally set at 260±10℃. During connection, the pipes and fittings are heated to critical melting at the same time, and then the pipes are immediately inserted straight into the pipe fitting, and the welded pipes have good contact performance and a high success rate;(2) Strong winds in the workplace will have an impact on the quality of welding, because it will cool the heating plate, resulting in uneven temperature distribution;(3) When inserting the socket end vertically into the socket end, the external force should be used evenly. No hanging socket or shaking socket is allowed, otherwise the melted plastic will overflow, affecting the service life and strength of the joint;(4) Pay attention to the difference in melt flow rates between pipes and fittings should not be too large, otherwise the optimal connection strength cannot be obtained.
Under theoretical design and ideal conditions, the service life of PP-R pipes can reach 50 years, but whether it can be achieved in actual use depends on many key factors. We can understand it from the following aspects: 1. Theoretical basis and standards: The "50-year" term for PP-R (random copolymer polypropylene) pipes stems from the internationally accepted "long-term hydrostatic strength" test standard (such as ISO 9080). After manufacturers produce new products, they will calculate the theoretical service life curve under normal temperature (such as 20℃) working pressure through accelerated aging experiments at high temperatures (such as 70℃, 80℃ or even 95℃) and high pressures. Under ideal conditions (for example: water temperature of 20 ° C and working pressure of 0.8MPa), PP-R pipes of qualified quality can theoretically be safely used for more than 50 years. The "50 years" here is a statistical concept, which means that under these conditions, the probability of damage to the pipes is extremely low, and not every pipe will be able to last for 50 years. 2. Key factors affecting the actual life of PP-R tubes (practical challenges). The theory is beautiful, but the real environment is much more complex. The following factors will significantly shorten the actual life of PPR pipes: ① Working temperature: This is the biggest factor. PP-R pipes are plastic pipes and are afraid of high temperatures. Its life decreases exponentially with increasing temperature.② Used for cold water (below 20℃ all year round): The longest life, most likely to be close to 50 years.③ Used for domestic hot water (55-70℃ all year round): the life will be greatly shortened. At a high temperature of 70 ° C, its life may be only about 10-25 years.④ Special note: If some high-temperature systems (exceeding 70℃) used for central heating, the PP-R pipes will age rapidly and problems can easily occur.③ Working pressure: The higher the system pressure, the greater the long-term stress on the pipe, and the life will be shortened accordingly. This kind of pipe is dark and uneven in color, has many impurities, low strength, and has extremely poor heat and pressure resistance. The inner layer of PEF insulation pipe is PP-R water supply pipe or PE-RT water supply pipe, and the outer layer is PEF insulation material. The construction of buried hot water pipes will not produce instantaneous negative heat conduction effects on the floor, cement, etc. covering the pipes, thereby effectively protecting the safety of the floor and wall. Prevent hollowing. (3) Prevent condensation water. When the room is hot and the humidity is high, and cold water flows in the plastic pipe, the temperature of the outer surface of the pipe will be lower than the dew point temperature of the surrounding air. At this time, the water vapor in the air will condense on the surface when it encounters the cold pipe wall. Into small water droplets, forming a "sweating" phenomenon. Especially in the case of returning to Nantian, a large amount of condensed water or small water droplets are more likely to appear on the outer wall of the pipe. (4) Freezing. PP-R is most afraid of low temperatures. In winter, pipes below 5℃ will produce low-temperature brittleness. Especially in the northern region, freezing and breaking of pipes are more likely to occur during winter construction. After installing PEF insulation pipes on the outer layer of the pipe, it can play a good protective role and greatly reduce the chance of freezing and cracking of the pipe. (5) Ultra-thin. PEF insulation material is an ultra-thin insulation material produced by high-pressure shrinkage embossing. After being compounded with bare pipes to produce insulation pipes, the outer diameter of the pipes is only increased by one specification. It can be buried in walls, ground, and exposed.

What are the hazards of water hammer effect? The pressure increase caused by water hammer can reach several times or even dozens of times the normal working pressure of the pipeline. This large-scale pressure fluctuation mainly causes harm to the pipeline system: (1) causing strong vibration of the pipeline and disconnection of the pipeline joints;(2) damaging the valve. If a sudden stop, it will "hit" a high-pressure wave and run back and forth. This is water hammer.
PP-R pipe fittings with right angles, such as 90° elbows, regular tees, reducing tees and other pipe fittings, are more likely to cause increased water resistance and increase the occurrence of water hammer under certain conditions than gently bent or streamlined pipe fittings. 1. Right-angle pipe fittings will definitely significantly increase local water resistance. Right-angle pipe fittings will cause sudden changes in the direction of water flow, forming vortex and turbulence, and the local resistance coefficient is much larger than that of gentle bends (45° elbows, large curvature elbows). As a result, resistance along the way increases, the pipeline system requires more pressure to maintain the same flow rate, and energy consumption increases. This can significantly affect transportation efficiency in long-distance or high-flow systems. 2. Right-angle pipe fittings do not inevitably cause water hammer, but when the inducement of water hammer exists, it will amplify the harm. Water hammer is a pressure wave caused by sudden changes in flow rate (rapid closing of valves, pump start and stop).
